No prob. Discoloration is perfectly normal. The ticking may be a valve, but probably isn't. The brakes on my 98 have squealed since new, but since I don't use them, I don't worry about it. Oil type and grade isn't too important, I've topped mine off with 15W40 Mack truck brand with no problems.
